Me and a friend were planning on moving out into an apartment when we noticed we could get a fairly alright RV or camper for $12,000 - we could get a loan for it and pay the loan off over time (interest won't really matter), and have the ability to roam around and temporarily live somewhere while looking for a job without having to pay for housing.

Of course there's cleaning the septic tank but we can always find an RV park or something. :/

Good idea or no?

YEAH!! Why not!! Go for it!! If you guys are young and just starting out, I think it would be a great idea!! You can move where you want to, when you want to. Living on the road for a year or so is especially convenient right now due our current fragile economy (meaning… you will probably be able to get temporary jobs during your pit stops) and a great way to see the USA!!

KOA Campgrounds has RV campgrounds in every state in the country and Canada!! http://www.koa.com/
You guys can work out a cleaning schedule for the RV, which is the least of your problems.

This is a once in a life time opportunity, so take it!! If you don't, you'll always wonder "Why didn't we….?" RIGHT?…RIGHT!!! So, go get the RV tomorrow, hit the road, and send me a post card!!!…

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!…really!!…(I'm jealous…)

I don't know which would be easier, but I'll tell you which would be better - definitely the camper van. Although, if you are going to travelling around alot, be sure to factor in the petrol you'll use, cos that would add up to quite a bit as well.

What I'd do - get the camper, spend a year or so kind of bumming around, seeing things, working a bit, then (maybe) come back, sell up, get a place and a proper job. Unless I enjoyed it so much, I may just stay homeless forever.
