Looking for suggestion from anyone who may have done this before. I am looking to take my family on our first RV camping in the winter. I have teens and youngsters. Are there any place to RV this week in the Texas: Houston, Austin, San Antonio that have nice scenic and activities like horse back riding or ATV rental? Hunting would be nice too.
That area has many good spots. any State park is excellent. Garner State Park is very nice but call first as I am not sure they are open during winter. that place is usually hoping during the summer. any place near San antonio and you can drive to the city and visit the Alamo and hang around downtown for a day. Very nice city. Investigate Lake Travis that is a very nice lake, I am sure somewhere on it is RV camping.

try Diamond state park in AR,
you can hunt for real Diamonds

Huntsville State Park right on I-45 has horseback riding and is a beautiful place to camp. call ahead for details. I have not camped there but I have stopped by and checked it out. I will be camping there when it gets warmer ( I tent camp). The TPWD has many wonderful parks in this part of Texas and the Alligators are hibernating too! check out the sight. Sorry I don't hunt, but good luck to you and have fun.
